Soak in the sun
And listen to my life
As it floats by your ear
On the wings of a purple butterfly.

Feel the swaying chain
Groan gently in your bones
As my story rustles your hair
On the back of the leaves.

Melt up into the sky,
Rising and falling on the see-saw of the flowers
As my words slide down to your heart
Beside the cool lemonade.

Take up the quilt of flowers,
Make them petals of your own
As my brown, withered words fall off into the thorns
Replaced on the vine by glittering dew.

My reflections interrupted
By a pebble in a pond

Ah, soon the orange leaves will fall
And be clothed in blankness

Then grow with the buds,
Repaint this swing
And remember hearing
The wings of a butterfly.

I really like it too, and that's a little odd considering that it was....written for the Java Journals in Mrs. Wadsworth's class at the end of first semester.

But it's pretty much my fave poem of mine (that hasn't been put to music, I mean). So thank you! I'm glad you like it too Smile

"Write a poem about a ... *draws from a box* Melancholy...Sun Porch...without using either of those words."

Didn't want to write about sadness, so I looked up "Melancholy" and actually it can mean "reminiscent."

Pretty epic story, huh? T.T
